A delegation from China’s Shandong Province—the birthplace of Confucius—visited the offices of Naftemporiki as part of efforts to deepen cooperation between the media sectors of Greece and China.
The Chinese delegation was led by Sun Wenli, Director General of the Publicity Department of Shandong Province, and Liang Jiawei, President of the Dazhong News Group, a media organisation that operates nine newspapers and multiple news websites and employs approximately 5,000 people.
During the visit, Naftemporiki website Director Michalis Psylos signed a memorandum of cooperation with Liang Jiawei, head of the Dazhong News Group.
“The two sides are committed to promoting economic and trade cooperation as well as cultural exchanges between China and Greece through the power of the media. They will explore the exchange of news reporting related to China and Greece, thereby enhancing mutual understanding,” the memorandum stated.
Located on China’s eastern coast, Shandong covers an area of 158,000 square kilometres and is home to around 100 million people. With a gross domestic product of approximately 1.5 trillion dollars, it is China’s third-largest provincial economy.
