Contships Logistics, owned by Nikolas D. Pateras, is moving ahead with a major shipbuilding programme that could eventually comprise up to 30 feeder containerships.
Specifically, CLC Newbuildings Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Contships Logistics Corp., has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Hubei Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. for the construction of 10 next-generation 1,300-TEU containerships, with options for an additional 10 plus 10 vessels.
The vessels will be based on the “ContshipMax CV1300” design, developed in cooperation with SDARI, featuring a capacity of 1,324 TEU, 340 reefer plugs, high operational flexibility, as well as significantly improved fuel consumption and emissions-related energy efficiency. Their dimensions have been specifically optimised for the requirements of international feeder shipping.
The vessels will be equipped with Mitsubishi Tier III-compliant main engines, advanced low-pressure SCR technology, Daihatsu auxiliary engines, a shaft generator and energy-saving systems.
According to the company, this combination creates a modern and efficient platform designed with a focus on reliability, reducing its environmental footprint and meeting the growing demands of global feeder shipping.
