On Rhodes, this marks the third upgrade of the Soroni plant, following two previous upgrades completed over the past two years.

The new units on Rhodes and Kos are expected to enter operation in summer 2027. The project involves four Titan 130 units, each with a rated capacity of 14.5 MW and an efficiency of 33%-34%. The dual-fuel units incorporate technologies designed to limit gaseous pollutant and particulate emissions.

Features of the new units

A key feature of the new, flexible units is their ability to start up rapidly. They take approximately 10 minutes to start and reach their rated capacity, allowing them to respond quickly to changes in demand and the needs of the electricity system.

The SoLoNOx technology they use reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions without requiring water injection. At the same time, replacing heavy fuel oil (HFO) with light fuel oil (LFO), combined with emissions-control systems, is expected to reduce the environmental footprint of the power stations. Noise levels from the new units will not exceed 65 dB at the boundaries of the facilities.

Supporting…

ΔΙΑΒΑΣΤΕ ΟΛΟ ΤΟ ΑΡΘΡΟ ΕΔΩ

The PPC Group is strengthening energy adequacy and security of supply on Rhodes and Kos with the installation of four new gas turbine units with a combined capacity of 58 MW at the power stations on the two islands.
