However, the proportion of contract customers increased to 54.9% from 50.9% in the corresponding quarter last year.<\/p>\n<p>Average revenue per mobile user (ARPU) rose to 11.5 euros from 11.2 euros, while mobile data usage climbed to 243,301 terabytes from 180,233 terabytes a year earlier. Fixed-line subscribers declined to 901,000 from 912,000 in the first quarter of the previous financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Among the key developments during the quarter was the signing in June of a non-binding term sheet between Vodafone Greece and PPC for the potential establishment of a joint venture in fiber-optic networks. The proposed transaction envisages the merger of PPC\u2019s wholly owned Fibergrid unit with Fiber2All, a Vodafone Greece subsidiary.<\/p>\n<p>The two groups are expected to hold equal stakes in the new company.
